I was never an athlete, always a spectator. What a wonderful spectical it was! I too cried today when the flame was extinguished, heck I cried when they won, when they lost and when I saw beauty. I will miss you Olympics!!! Please come home to Chi-town in 2016!

    Aww... sweet post, Blagica.
It does make your heart swell a little, doesn't it? ...in a good way, of course.

Great summary of the closing ceremonies! I was pleased to see how involved the London contingent was in the event as it reminded me that the Olympics never really end - they just take a 4 year pause. The double decker bus as a stage was a hoot! I wonder what Chicago would have.... perhaps a giant stuffed pizza?!?

I live in Fort Wayne Indiana. I really hope that Chicago wins the bid for the 2016 Olympic Games. Chicago is my 4 year old daughters favorite place to visit and she has watched a lot of Olympics in total awe, with us, over the duration. We would most likely take her to see them there.

For me having the games in Chicago would mean I could get to see them live and that would mean I wouldn't have to put up with the NBC coverage which for me was dreadful! I grew up on the other side of the Atlantic and spent lots of time watching Olympic coverage of ALL sporting events. This time around, I saw so little track events - no long jump, no shot put or discus, not to mention anything of boxing, sailing and numerous others.

Yes, like many others I watched the swimming, gymnastics and what NBC had to offer and enjoyed every bit of those amazing performances. But I felt that NBC let us down and could have shown so much more. Let people out there see other sports, not just those that the USA excels in. The olympics is a world event - that encompasses places outside this country. There are so many other aspects of sports that people here miss out on. I'm betting they would enjoy them as much as what NBC provided.

Come on Chicago - you can do it!
