Although Chicago has not been selected yet, the City of Chicago is already tearing down Bronzeville community. The Bronzeville community is one of the best communities on the Southside of Chicago. It is one of the wealthiest communities on the Southside. It is also home to many senior citizens in Chicago. The plans for the Olymipcs involves tearing down most of the areas apartment complexes and hospitals. The plan will cause shopping centers, schools and churches in the area to close and never return. The Olympics would change this area forever and will not benefit the people that have been there for years. Chicago has too many residents and not enough room for the Olympics. People are going to loose their homes and their communities to the Olypics.

    Hi Lynita --

The Bronzeville neighborhood is one of the most culturally-rich neighborhoods in Chicago - and one that the bid loves to showcase. The bid's community relations team has been active in reaching out and engaging in continuous dialogue with community groups and residents of not only this neighborhood, but also all potentially-impacted neighborhoods. The Olympics are about leaving positive, lasting legacy throughout the city. Chicago's plan includes no seizure of private land in any way - that means no eminent domain and no evictions. All of us agree that it would be a travesty to allow the Bronzeville's rich history to be left behind - we want to make sure that the community residents' voices are heard. We encourage everyone, from those who are concerned to those that are excited, to reach out to the bid and make sure their voice is heard - either via email at community@chicago2016.org, or by interacting with staff members at the various presentations, festivals and parades throughout the city that Chicago 2016 is part of.

I would like Chicago to host the Olympics if it will bring prosperity to south side residents and bring some glory to Chicago Public school students and teachers. I would like assurance that residents of Woodlawn will not be displaced!
