I concur about the writer, but does the United States need to host another Olympic games a mere decade after Atlanta? Why do we want the Olympics here - for the profitability and status of the event? And are we ready to host again?

I feel that with the 2012 games in London, a westernized, English-speaking country, perhaps we should let another nation play host in 2016.

Were the last Olympics that the United States hosted not in 1996? So putting the games back here in 2016 would make it not only be one decade but two decades ago that we've held the games.

I believe we are ready to host again, why not? Every country wants to host the Olympics for many of the same reasons...which of course include profitability and status. And let's face it, it couldn't hurt our economy.

I vote 2016 in Chicago! I also really support the initiative to make it a "green" effort as well. By 2016, I am sure there will be many new 'eco-friendly' innovations that the U.S. will be able to utilize in the development of the Olympic Village...
